The position may be filled at a Grade H, I or J level.  Individuals who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education and certifications may be eligible for the advanced grade.
 
Basic Function:
Assists in the planning, design and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects. This position is typically assigned to perform basic tasks and analysis on larger projects or perform standard tasks on all phases of smaller projects.
 
Higher grade levels will work independently on complex assignments. Tasks assigned to a more senior Engineer often involve the consistent recognition and development of new or improved products/processes or techniques that substantially impact how AGL Resources does business on a daily basis.
 
Position may specialize in one of the following engineering disciplines:
Design - Performs engineering assignments involved in the design of components, features or functionality of pipeline products and operations.
Compliance - Conducts audits/reviews and tests to ensure compliance with government/industry regulations and standards.
Systems - Performs engineering assignments involving gas operations, system modeling and system design.
Material Standardization – Increase standardization of materials among LDCs. Evaluate (through technical research, testing, and analysis) and approve the adoption of new materials, products, and processes
Plant - Performs engineering assignments involved in the plan, design, equipment purchases construction and operations of LNG plant facilities.
Project - Performs engineering assignments as part of a work team involved in planning, organizing, developing and managing complex projects.
Mechanical/Maintenance - Performs engineering tasks involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components and associated tasks involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.

Education and Experience:
Required:
• BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil)
• 1-2 years of progressive Engineering experience
 
Skills:
Required:
• Project Management
• Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
• CAD/GIS - basic proficiency
• MS Office - advanced proficiency
 
LEVEL I:
Education and Experience:
Required:
• BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil)
• 2 -3 years of progressive Engineering experience
• Completion of 1 engineering rotation
 
Skills:
Required:
• Project Management
• Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
• Ability to influence and persuade in decision making.
• CAD/GIS - intermediate proficiency
• MS Office - advanced proficiency
 
Certifications/Licenses:
None required
 
LEVEL J:
Education and Experience:
Required:
• BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil)
• 5 years of progressive engineering experience in gas standards and materials, project engineering or construction management of natural gas or other pipeline facilities.
• 2 + years familiarity and experience with Gas Safety regulations or utility pipeline construction practices
 
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred: Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)
